Hello, my name's Darya. I am 42 y.o.
I graduated from high school in 2000 when the Belarus IT industry was in its infancy. Since I had always had a passion for design and creativity, I went to study design theory. I studied art history, painting, graphics, the basics of composition, color science, the art of forms, fonts, and ornamental semantics. As a student, I participated in international design and fashion competitions and won internships in Wales, Berlin, and London.
I also worked as a graphic designer in the printing industry, where I learned to be patient. For the first time, I faced the problem of getting customers' approval of my designs. I quickly learned to find compromises with customers, and everyone was happy.
I worked as a designer-constructor of children's pop-up books. This experience immersed me in teamwork, and I realized that a team of specialists would make a better and more exciting product than one person.
When I concluded it was time to move on, I decided to try my hand at a CDO (Chief Design Officer) role. I worked for a large mattress company - Vegas LLC, with operations in Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Slovakia, and the USA. I learned about the diversity of artistic perception in different countries. I learned how to create universal layouts that appeal to the maximum number of buyers, regardless of geolocation. This is an essential skill for a designer (if you want to discuss this topic, feel free to reach out). My design team consisted of several graphic designers, interior designers, 3D object designers, graphic artists, and web designers. I learned to manage a team to achieve the best results.
In 2015, I decided it was time to learn something new. I completed a course in UX/UI design for mobile apps. I quickly found a job in the new specialty and disappeared into mobile applications. Here, I utilize all my skills. I work with the developers to ensure my designs and art files meet their expectations and are easy to work with.
I also want to talk about my phobia, which I have suffered since my childhood. I have a chronophobia - the fear of wasting time. I am never late for a meeting without a good reason. I will usually be there 20 minutes earlier than the meeting time. I always strictly adhere to the project's time frame. In 19 years, I have yet to have a single overdue deadline. If the time allotted for the project does not correspond to the terms of reference, I discuss this issue with the customer and find a compromise.
